How to Connect PrestaShop to TikTok Shop Using a Product Feed

TikTok has become one of the fastest-growing e-commerce platforms in the world. TikTok Shop — the platform’s native shopping feature — allows sellers to list products directly within the TikTok app, tag products in videos and live streams, and run highly targeted shopping ads.

For PrestaShop store owners, connecting to TikTok means reaching a younger, highly engaged audience that is increasingly comfortable buying directly through social platforms.

This guide explains how to connect your PrestaShop store to TikTok using a product feed.

TikTok Shop vs TikTok Ads Catalog — What Is the Difference?

There are two separate ways to use TikTok for e-commerce:

TikTok Shop is TikTok’s native marketplace where users can browse and buy products without leaving the app. Products are listed directly on TikTok, fulfilled by the seller, and payments are handled by TikTok. Currently available in selected markets including the US, UK, and Southeast Asia.

TikTok Ads Product Catalog is used for running Dynamic Product Ads on TikTok — ads that automatically show users products they have viewed or are likely to buy based on their behaviour. This is available in all markets where TikTok Ads runs.

Both require a product feed from your PrestaShop store.

What TikTok Requires in a Product Feed

TikTok’s product catalog feed format is similar to Facebook’s. The required fields are:

| Field | Description |
|——-|————-|
| `sku_id` | Unique product identifier |
| `title` | Product name (max 255 characters) |
| `description` | Product description |
| `availability` | `in stock` or `out of stock` |
| `condition` | `new`, `refurbished`, or `used` |
| `price` | Price with currency (e.g. `29.99 EUR`) |
| `link` | Product page URL |
| `image_link` | Main product image URL |
| `brand` | Brand or manufacturer name |

Optional but recommended fields include `additional_image_link`, `google_product_category`, `age_group`, `gender`, `color`, and `size`.

Step 1: Set Up a TikTok Business Account and TikTok Ads Manager

Before connecting your product catalog, you need:

1. A TikTok Business Account — sign up at business.tiktok.com
2. A TikTok Ads Manager account — created automatically when you set up a Business Account
3. Your website domain verified in TikTok Ads Manager

Domain verification involves adding a meta tag or DNS record to your site — similar to Google Search Console verification.

Step 2: Install the TikTok Pixel on Your PrestaShop Store

The TikTok Pixel tracks user behaviour on your store — product views, add to cart, and purchases. This data is used to optimise your TikTok Ads and power Dynamic Product Ads.

To install the TikTok Pixel on PrestaShop:

1. In TikTok Ads Manager, go to Assets → Events → Web Events
2. Create a new pixel and copy the pixel code
3. Add the pixel code to your PrestaShop store via Google Tag Manager or directly in your theme’s header template
4. Set up the following standard events:
– `ViewContent` — product page views
– `AddToCart` — add to cart actions
– `PlaceAnOrder` — completed purchases

Make sure each event passes the `content_id` parameter matching the `sku_id` in your product feed.

Step 3: Generate a TikTok Product Feed in PrestaShop

XML Feeds Pro for PrestaShop includes a TikTok catalog feed template. This generates a properly formatted XML feed that meets TikTok’s specifications.

To set up the feed:

1. Install XML Feeds Pro in your PrestaShop back office
2. Create a new feed and select the TikTok template
3. Review the field mapping:
– `sku_id` → product reference
– `title` → product name
– `price` → price with currency code
– `availability` → stock status
– `image_link` → main product image
4. Set filters if needed — for example, exclude categories not suitable for TikTok
5. Save the feed and copy the feed URL
6. Set up CRON to update the feed daily or more frequently

Step 4: Create a Product Catalog in TikTok Ads Manager

1. In TikTok Ads Manager, go to Assets → Catalogs
2. Click Create Catalog and select your business location and currency
3. Choose Data Feed as the upload method
4. Select Scheduled Refresh and paste your PrestaShop feed URL
5. Set the refresh frequency (daily is recommended)
6. Click Submit

TikTok will process your feed and import the products. This can take up to a few hours for large catalogs.

Step 5: Create a Dynamic Shopping Campaign on TikTok

Once your catalog is populated and your Pixel is firing correctly:

1. In TikTok Ads Manager, create a new campaign with Product Sales objective
2. At the ad group level, select your product catalog
3. Choose your targeting — you can target website visitors (retargeting) or broad interest-based audiences
4. Select Dynamic Showcase Ads as the ad format — TikTok will automatically generate video ads using your product images and information
5. Set your budget and bidding strategy

TikTok’s algorithm is particularly effective at finding new customers who have not visited your store before — so do not limit yourself to retargeting only.

Tips for Better Performance on TikTok

Use vertical video images — TikTok is a vertical video platform. Product images that are square (1:1) or vertical (9:16) perform better than landscape images.

Keep titles short and punchy — TikTok users scroll fast. Product titles that lead with the most important information (brand, product type, key feature) get more attention.

Update stock frequently — TikTok penalises ads for out-of-stock products. Set your feed to update at least daily to avoid wasted spend.

Test with a small budget first — TikTok audiences and formats are different from Google and Facebook. Start with €10–20/day and test before scaling.

Use UGC-style creative — TikTok ads that look like organic TikTok content (authentic, casual, native-feeling) outperform polished ad creatives. Encourage customers to create content with your products.

Is TikTok Right for Your PrestaShop Store?

TikTok works best for products that are visual, demonstrable, and appeal to users under 35. Fashion, beauty, home decor, gadgets, food, and fitness products tend to perform well.

If you sell B2B products, industrial equipment, or highly technical items, TikTok may not be the right channel. But if your products can be shown in a short video in an engaging way, TikTok is worth testing.

The cost of entry is low — a product feed and a small test budget is all you need to find out whether TikTok works for your store.
